Farmer's Market and Milwaukie Town Center (Former Texaco site) Committee Scheduled

There's been much discussion regarding the future of the Milwaukie Farmers' Market and the mixed-use development that is planned for the block where the Market currently resides, the former Texaco site at Harrison Street and McLoughlin Boulevard.

The City is committed to preserving the Market and wants to make sure its future success is protected. Anyone who is interested in the Markets' future is encouraged to attend the Farmers' Market Relocation Meeting scheduled for Oct. 18th, from 6 to 9 p.m. at St. John's Episcopal Church (2036 SE Jefferson St.)  Vendors, market attendees, market organizers, and neighbors have been asked to participate in a discussion about possible future sites for the Milwaukie Farmers Market, and about aspirations and goals for the Market's future.

In a separate, but related process, the Milwaukie Town Center Advisory Committee will meet for the second time on Oct. 11th, from 4 to 6 p.m., at the Public Safety Building (3200 SE Harrison).

This committee is charged with reviewing design proposals and making a recommendation to Council regarding the future development of the former Texaco site and adjoining City Hall parking lot.

At the Oct. 11th meeting staff will respond to issues and requests from Kick-off Meeting #1 in terms of the Farmers Market and site information. Following that, the committee will walk through some basic background information related to the development process in terms of current downtown plans and policies, elements of successful mixed-use projects, financial feasibility, development team members and their roles, developer financial capacity and potential business offers. All of the Milwaukie Town Center Advisory Committee meetings are open to the public and interested residents are encouraged to attend. Those interested in joining an email list of "Interested Persons" can do so by emailing garstj@ci.milwaukie.or.us

Please track future meetings on our Current Events Calendar located on the home page in the Quick Links box.
